Financing:

      Financial support will be available to speakers from European Union member states, and on a limited basis to non-Europeans. Students (doctoral, post-doc) under 35 years of age from European Union member states are eligible for stipends that cover all expenses.

Update on how to reach Castelvecchio:

  • By car: You must go to LUCCA. From Lucca, take the roqd going north direction to "Bagni di Lucca, Garfagnana, Modena, Castelnuevo, or Abetone". The indicators may vary at different intersections. The after BORGO A MOZZANO, the road branches, so follow "Garfagnaga" and "Castelnuevo": When you reach a place called GALLICANO, there are indications to BARGA. Take the second one. You will cross a bridge, and there will be a sign pointing to CASTELVECCHIO. Go through the village until you see the sign pointing to IL CIOCCO (to the left). Drive through the gate and up the mountain (ca. 2 miles/3 km).
    If you follow any road to BARGA, you will eventually end up in Castelvecchio, just with a little detour.

  • By train: there are trains from PISA via LUCCA. Castelvecchio has a train station: You will have to walk about 800 m to the gate of IL CIOCCO. Froò there you can have transportation summoned. The station before Castelvecchio is BARGA/GALLICANO. There is a bar from where you can call a taxi or the hotel.
